September Newsletter 2017

Dear Friends and Sponsors,

Thank you for your concern and for your prayers for the folks in the Chiapas Education Program.

The 8.2 earthquake that hit off the Pacific coast was a real blow to the southern part of Mexico as well as Mexico City itself.

I am happy to say that no material damage nor loss of life was reported in the area of the Yajalón mission. The scholarship students and their families are fine. I wish we could say the same for the rest of the State of Chiapas.

The shaking was severe, and the folks are still in shock. The social media from the area has been full of doomsday messages and warnings from the fundamentalist Christian groups. But the people of faith know a God that only wants the very best for all. They are quietly beginning to find deeper appreciation for their blessings, to remember their responsibility to protect Mother Earth and to look around and ask what they can do to help others who are less fortunate.

Thank you for being a faith base for our students.

P.S. We ask special prayers for our sponsors in Texas and Florida.

Sincerely,

The Volunteers of Mission Teaching Foundation
