Our group will visit the Students at the boys' and girls' hostels in Yajalon, distribute toys to children in a poor community of San Cristobal de Las Casas and celebrate with the villagers of San Isidro the inaugural of the project that brings water to their community. An inspiring time to be in Chiapas and watch the faithful as they traditionally run, in bare feet, with a flame in hand, toward the shrines celebrating the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Elsa Maria Martinez de la Cruz is one such young woman. Elsa Maria had the opportunity to spend a semester at Cal Poly-Pomona as part of a cultural exchange program. Inspired by the experience, she has returned to Chiapas to motivate our younger students.
