There are a variety of ways in which Mission Teaching Foundation (MTF) is partnering with Yashalúm de Santiago Apóstle, a self-help civil association, to help the Mayan indigenous people of Chiapas work towards a better future. The main focus is on the sponsorship programs, which are currently giving monthly scholarships to over 250 junior high, high school and college students. Their youth is eager to learn, so much so that not all applications for scholarships can be supported.
Your help will give another young Mayan a chance for a better future. Please consider to become a sponsor.
There are two Student Sponsorship programs available for your consideration:
| 1 |
High School Students at $ 25.00 per months,
or $ 300.00 for a full year. |
| 2 |
College Students at $ 100.00 per month,
or $ 1,200.00 for a full year. |

Other programs & projects of assistance endeavor to help communities use more productive and environmentally sound practices in the growing of their cash and food crops. Organic Coffee Farms, Organic Vegetable Gardens, and a Compost Fertilizer program utilize the latest horticultural information to increase both the quality and the quantity of local produce while also improving the structure of the region’s soil. This helps to insure a physically healthier community, a better standard of living and the development of lands, which will be able to sustain quality crops for generations to come.

The Enhanced Stove project is yet another way in which MTF is helping the indigenous of Chiapas. Not only do these solid, concrete stoves provide better health conditions for the families through smoke-free kitchens, but also help in the conservation of surrounding forests by the efficient way in which wood is burned.
Please consider to become a donor of one or more of the above important community endeavors.

The Laptop program provides students attending the university with laptops to assist with their studies. We seek old and new machines. They can be Windows or Mac., and should have an internal modem, with Microsoft Word, Outlook Express, and either Internet Explorer or Netscape, already loaded on the machines (if possible). Also needed are inkjet printers and surge protectors. US power supply is the same as the standard U.S. power.
