Yashalúm de Santiago Apóstol - Addressing Poverty through Education

Through the cyclical process of education, service learning and community the indigenous Mayans of Yajalón in Chiapas Mexico share their reflection on the importance of an education for their children and the value of the scholarship program.

The Yashalúm de Santiago Apóstol was formed in 1990 by the Mayans in the town of Yajalón, this self-help civil association in partnership with Mission Teaching Foundation (MTF) provides scholarships for students of the region.
